|Charter a yacht & enjoy endless summer sailing|
With summer just around the corner, many aspiring yachtsmen dream to go sailing. You might think only the rich and famous can afford to own a yacht and go cruising but, be it alone, with the family, a group of friends or colleagues, you too can have a wonderful summer holiday on a boat. Consider celebrating a special anniversary, celebration or conducting an executive meeting or corporate incentive event,
in un-matched style, and charter a yacht. Forget the argument that you can't go boating as you have kids. Or your wife, husband, girl or boyfriend, doesn't like boats. Yachts can be as comfortable as a luxury villa! It also doesn't matter if you have never sailed before. If you don't own a boat and want to give the idea a try-out: sailing on a small, medium or luxury sailing or motor yacht in near or far-flung places, bareboat or with a captain and crew to take care of all your needs, is very achievable.
If you'd like to be lounging on exotic white-beached shores, racing in exciting regattas or exploring quieter scenes where the water is crystal clear and you can swim over coral gardens, read on and pick one of our summer sailing suggestions!
There are many reputable, excellent value cruising yachts, in the waters of the Mediterranean and Asian countries. Added to spectacular summer sunshine, when seeking diversity and a unique sailing experience: both the 'Med' and Asia have a lot to offer. These destinations also give you a tremendous opportunity to experience an endless summer, all year long.
Most yachts carry an array of toys for their guests. They usually have a range of canoes, water skiing and wakeboarding equipment, towable inflatables and scuba and fishing gear and extra dinghies or power craft, all contributing to unlimited summer water fun. Luxurious superyachts even have helipads and on-board Jacuzzis; massage therapists, personal fitness trainers and the like.
If you are travelling with family or with business associates, being away from school or technology is no longer necessary as most luxury yachts have Wi-Fi on board. However being un-plugged for a few days at a time can of course be part of school holiday adventures. Most children (and adults) benefit from the experience. Another reason to consider a summer vacation on a boat away from it all, no matter what month of the year.
Start your endless summer early and go to the famously glamorous French Riviera for shopping in March. Splash out and purchase the latest fashion ahead of everyone else at the Cannes Shopping Festival (25th – 28th March). Sailing aboard one of the charter yachts that take in Monte Carlo's world-class marinas and cliff-sided beaches will be an incredible experience.
During the Mediterranean summer, soak up the sun as you meander down the coast of Southern France. Step off your yacht and be part of the crowd at the Cannes Film Festival (11th – 22nd May).
Watch racing from your private spectator yacht and take in the roadside action of the famed Monaco Classic Grand Prix (13th-15th May), an unmissable event for worldwide collectors and classic motorsport fanatics or the Monaco Grand Prix (26th – 29th May) from your deck. The roar of Formula 1 racing cars, the champagne uncorked as you toast this year's champions, a holiday surrounded by the glamour of Monaco is the ultimate dream come true. And in between, whether you wish to remain in the marina, sail at the helm of a yacht or just remain gently drifting through phosphorescent seas with captain and crew standingby: the options available are endless.
Sailing from France to Italy and on to Greece offers a lot for yacht charterers. Wine tastings and olive grove walks beckon from the shores of Italy's quaint harbours from June through to August. Festivals celebrating the summer's arrival, ancient ruins and imposing castles beg your exploration.
Picturesque Grecian homes artfully cluster rocky shores. Small bays accommodating just a single boat, await your arrival. What could be more romantic? Many of the bays, beaches and marinas have been awarded the Blue Flag for their high standard cleanliness, services and facilities. Short distances between islands and ports, clear seas and a pleasant climate provide ideal yachting conditions.
Once the cooler weather arrives, it's time to depart for warmer climates. Head east and start your next summer voyage discovering some of the over 4.5 million square kilometers of cruising waters found off the Gulf of Thailand and Koh Samui on Thailand's east coast or Phuket, nearby Malaysian islands including the Butang Group, ancient Myanmar (Burma) shores or Bali and the Indonesian Archipelago.
Phang Nga Bay, Thailand's renowned cruising region east of Phuket, offers year-round safe and secluded anchorages, hundreds of monolithic islands to enjoy activities such as rock-climbing and spelunking, as well as unique wildlife and scuba diving further south.
If you prefer nightlife, shopping, dramatic dance shows, good restaurants and cultural diversity, the volcanic island of Bali festooned with exotic, black-sand beaches will be a pleasure to explore.
Festivals abound in the tropical region. Chartering a boat makes 'being there' easy. Be in awe of the dramatic Vegetarian Festival in Phuket (1st – 31st August) with spectacular dragon processions and incredible body piercings on show. Partake in your choice of no less than three New Year celebrations within months of each other. Dates: The western New Year (Dec 31st/Jan 1st), the traditional Chinese New Year (Jan 28th 2017) and 'Songkran', the splashy, huge water throwing party of Thai New Year (mid April).
Imagine spending Christmas evening aboard your yacht, gliding through warm seas somewhere along Thailand's island scattered coast. Float into the New Year, as you watch from the comfort of your private deck while fireworks light the heavens. Hide Easter eggs on an uninhabited island's beach for your fellow passengers to discover (27th March 2016 / 16th April 2017) and experience the ethereal wonder of his exotic tropical wonderland up close. Swim in clear waters, anchor on white sand and soak up the sun.
Set sail for the barely explored region of Komodo National Park (Indonesia) and its numerous out-of-the-way islands (May – October). This part of the globe offers a true discovery adventure. You can wander around fishing villages, meeting the local villagers and - cautiously from a distance – be intrigued by the prehistoric Komodo dragons.
You'll revel in new discoveries of fish and corals, each time you venture for a swim, snorkel or dive. Later in the year (November –April) Raja Ampat, also in Indonesia, is another fantastic unspoiled destination, offering some of the best scuba diving in the world. Tropical islands invite vigorous hiking parties or relaxing treasure hunting on the beach. To get the most out of your charter experience or corporate business charter, luxury yachts are perfectly suited to the experience. Summer can be endless – take the plunge and embrace a warm water experience, anytime of the year.
