Heesen Yachts Launches 55m Project Pollux

Heesen Yachts has launched Project Pollux, the latest 55m superyacht to be built at the Dutch shipyard and the second in the class to sport a new layout. The superyacht has hit the water and is now preparing for sea trials in October.

Heesen has restyled its 55-metre Steel class superyacht to feature a new layout which emphasises her vast interior volume of 760GT. This opulent interior accommodates 12 guests in six large staterooms, which include an 82sqm owner’s apartment on the main deck forward and a VIP on the bridge deck.

Omega Architects was the studio selected to pen another timeless exterior profile for this latest Heesen superyacht, while the sublime interior spaces have been crafted by Bannenberg & Rowell. The London-based studio has enjoyed a fruitful relationship with Heesen in the past, having collaborated on highly acclaimed superyachts such as Galactica Star and the 47m Lady Petra.

“It’s always an exciting milestone in the build process when launch marks the final few months of work said Dickie Bannenberg as Project Pollux was launched. “We’ve tested the Heesen joinery team with plenty of curves and details and they have done a beautiful job. We are greatly looking forward to seeing her finished.”

The brief given to Bannenberg & Rowell was to create a superyacht which combined bold solutions with a casual appeal. Dark eucalyptus and pale sycamore have been used in the joinery mentioned by Dickie Bannenberg, with chevron parquet flooring in the main saloon to create a perfect background for the eye-catching bar installation. Throughout the superyacht’s exquisite interiors geometric shapes, natural tones, and tactile finishes have all been applied to endow the yacht with a strong character and wide appeal.

The new layout sees the yacht’s arsenal of toys and tenders stored on the foredeck to allow for easy access, while the space in the transom has been used to add a large beach club so that guests can get the most out of their time at sea. This is extended to the large outdoor deck spaces which include a vast sundeck of 100sqm, fully equipped with dining facilities, a generous bar and a supersize hot tub.

In the first few weeks of October Project Pollux will leave the Oss shipyard to undergo extensive sea trials in the North Sea, and we very much look forward to seeing this timeless superyacht in action.
